Have you done a business plan for your business yet? I bet you haven’t! This is one thing that most clinicians admit they skip. But it’s crucial! I didn’t realize it at the time of doing it when I first started out (admittedly, I only did so because I signed up for a Chicago small business plan competition to win some money to furnish my office) but looking back now, it really helped me solidify my goals, expectations and think about my business in ways that I wouldn’t have, being the non-business person I was.

When I look at my business plan now, (I did a 3 year projection at the time–until 2015) it was nice to see how I fared in comparison to my expectations back in 2012 when I originally did the business plan.

Try it out, take some time and look at your business from another angle. Do a 1 year, 3 year, or 5 year projection to give yourself goals, hold yourself accountable, and see where your business goes!
