Episode 32 | Creating a Top Notch Clinician

In this episode, we’re going talk about creating a top notch clinician in your practice + how to get the right therapists applying to your practice.

To start off, you’re going to want a description of your practice.

This is something you’re going to want to take a lot of time on. Talk about the locations, specialties you already have, specialties you’re looking for, what sets you apart from others, etc. That way, clinicians looking at practices will be able to tell right away if it is the right environment for them.

Then, have a section on your needs.

What are the things you need from a clinician in your practice? Things to think about are:

  1. How many hours you want them to be working
  2. Any specific kind of license
  3. Are you taking insurance or no?
  4. Do you require that clinician take insurance or are you fee for service?
  5. Is there a certain specialty you need from your clinician?

The clearer you are, the better it will be and the more likely it is that you’ll find the right fit for your practice.

Then you’re going to want to go over requirements.

What are the requirements you have? These are slightly different than your needs. Your needs can be a little flexible, but requirements will be hard + fast, established slots you need filled from your clinician. These can be things like:

  1. Making sure that have the state of licensing you need
  2. Making sure they can work however many hours a week you need
  3.  How many years they worked post-licensing
  4. Prior private practice experience
  5. Being on specific insurance panels

The last thing you’ll need to go over is your offerings.

This is what will reel in your clinicians. What do you offer that they need to know, and what do you have that sets you apart? This section will be things like:

  1. Providing a steady stream of referrals
  2. Individual or monthly group consultation
  3. Competitive compensation
  4. Admin: billing and/or reception in-house, etc.
  5. Retirement account matching
  6. Health insurance
  7. Bonuses
  8. Paid marketing
  9. Comfortable office spaces
  10. Supportive team environment
